iPad Pro 12.9 (2020)

ipad pro 12.9 2020 front screen

  • Amazing big screen
  • Great performance
  • Long battery life
  • Excellent display
  • Perfect for work and play

  • On the expensive side
  • Accessories are costly
  • No portrait or night mode for cameras
  • Some apps are not adjusted for a trackpad
  • A bit heavy with Magic Keyboard

The iPad Pro 12.9 2020 gives you great versatility in terms of visuals and graphics with its new 10 MP ultra-wide camera and a LiDAR scanner, which boosts responsiveness in Augmented Reality (AR) as well as real-world environment apps. It uses iPadOS version 13.4 making it the fastest tablet today, and we say this hands-on heart, this thing is fast. It also supports cursor input which means that it will take a while for developers to update their apps to trackpad input. Yes, it will cost more than any other iPad, but what you get is well worth the investment. You get a tablet that will be relevant for years to come and having the ability to use accessories such as Magic Keyboard with trackpad means you can throw the kitchen sink at it, it will take it.

The iPad Pro 12.9 (2020) is the without a doubt the best tablet in 2020. With incredible speed, long battery life, much improved cameras and trackpad support along with its very well implemented magic keyboard accessory, this is a tablet that will last you for years to come. There is no much on offer here. But if you think it can replace your laptop, we strongly believe it is not quite there yet. But then again, you can do things with an iPad that you can’t do with a laptop and that is the way it is meant to be. If you buy this amazing tablet, you won’t be disappointed.

Apple iPad 10.2 7th Generation

iPad 10.2 Tablet

  • Affordable price
  • Bigger screen display
  • Good battery life
  • Loudspeakers
  • Detailed video

  • Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil are quite expensive
  • Same old processor
  • Not an Anti-Reflective screen
  • No Face ID
  • No True Tone screen technology

If you don’t require the high-end features of the iPad Pro, you could save yourself a lot of money and invest on the iPad 10.2, a nice and big tablet with enough functionality for most people, for less than you would pay for an iPad 7. It also has the same length and width of the iPad Air, but slightly thicker and heavier. If there is one thing that we miss about the latest Apple releases is Face ID, though you still get the Touch ID. However, trying to unlock it using your thumb feels a bit slower compared to the ease and speed of simply looking at the tablet.

One of the big improvements is the increase in screen size from 9.7 to 10.2inch which is great for multitasking options. The LCD panel has a 2160 x 1620 pixels of resolution with 264 pixels-per-inch pixel density which provides a very sharp and colorful screen. This we found to be more than enough in most environments, and definitely more than enough for the average person.

The iPad 10.2 makes it into our list of best tablet in 2020 because it is a really good tablet overall and the performance is surprisingly good, it has a generous screen size at 10.2inch, more than enough for anyone, battery life is good, and you get the ability to easily expand with a keyboard cover or an Apple Pencil for those who fancy handwriting or drawing. If you are looking for normal/ light use, to play around or browse the internet, this is a great tablet. You will have a tablet for years to come. Should you need a tablet for more heavy-duty work, look at the iPad Air or iPad Pro.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6

Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 10.5"

  • Excellent 10.5-inch AMOLED screen display
  • Strong and fast performance
  • S Pen support
  • Keyboard has a built-in trackpad
  • Long battery life

  • Samsung DeX is not perfect
  • Buggy One UI software
  • Unreliable fingerprint sensor
  • The keyboard is quite expensive
  • No headphone jack

The Galaxy Tab S6 tablet uses the mighty Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor to run the engine, improve and speed up graphics and more importantly, increase the tablet’s performance. Taking advantage of the power under the hood from its Qualcomm processor, Samsung introduces what they call the DeX mode. It basically gives the user a computer-like experience by connecting the tablet to a monitor using a DeX cable. Now, you can have access to an on-screen keyboard, edit photos, or multitask on a split-screen mode in a bigger and wider screen. We tested this and we were really impressed by how well implemented it was and it is definitely a thumbs up.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 is the finest Android tablet in the market, without a doubt and it lands fairly in our list of the best tablet in 2020 by its own merits. Its beautiful display, excellent sound, and the powerful operating system only reinforce that statement. With great features such as the S Pen support and DeX mode, it is a great tablet in which you can actually get things done. It is especially attractive for watching videos and doing anything “entertainment” related. Although it is still a no-match for the sheer power of the iPad Pro 12.9, it is the best Android tablet and slowly chipping away towards catching up with Apple’s iPads. It is reducing the distance but not quite there yet. It is the ideal tablet if you are already in the Android ecosystem.

The new iPad Air 3 has a 10.5-inch display with slimmer bezels, a faster processor, and an improved higher-resolution front-facing camera. It uses the new operating system, iOS 12 that works great with multitasking, gesture controls, and markups. Apple also made the storage larger providing 64 and 256GB versions, better performance and last but not least, added support for Smart Keyboard and first-generation Apple Pencil. And this is really great because it revolutionizes the way you can use the iPad Air 3. It is like having a lightweight mini office on the go.

The iPad Air 3 can outperform many of the best laptops in the market today. According to several multi-core benchmark tests, the third-generation of iPad Air doubles the performance of the iPad 9.7. That is quite an improvement straight off the block. With its powerful A12 Bionic chip processor, it got a score of 11,575 which is higher than the 10.5-inch iPad Pro. As a matter of fact, only the latest iPad Pro 12.9 and the iPad 12.9 have a better performance.

Don’t be fooled by its thin body, we include the iPad Air 3 (2019) in our list of the best tablet in 2020 for a reason. The tablet has serious horsepower inside. Its laminated screen and overall design might not have changed much but you get great performance and fast integration of apps and accessories, such as Apple’s brilliant Smart Keyboard. Support for first-gen Apple Pencil might make it feel behind its time but let’s not dismiss the fact it doubles the performance of the entry-level iPad 9.7. We think the new iPad Air 3 is a great tablet for the average person. If you buy it, you won’t be disappointed.

iPad Mini 5

Read our full iPad Mini 5 Review

The new 7.9-inch iPad mini is Apple’s smallest tablet ever. It has a new display technology called True Tone which adjusts the color and brightness levels based on real-life colors in the environment around you. It may look identical to the previous iPad mini but don’t be fooled, there is a lot going on inside. The Retina display screen is a whopping 25% brighter and creates higher quality images due to its 2048 x 1536px screen resolution with a pixel density of 326ppi. It “supports” both HDR 10 and Dolby Vision playback, although the peak brightness of the display isn’t high enough to give the full HDR effect. In plain and simple language, the display is top-notch, sharp, bright and with vivid colors and the anti-reflective coating works like a charm.

Also, when we tried the iPad mini 5 to play several games, we were blown away and can say, hand on heart, that nothing comes close in terms of real-world game performance. The quality of the images and graphics is truly amazing and has nothing to envy the bigger models. We put this little tablet through its paces and it came through the goods, a solid, smooth, and satisfying experience all around.

The new Apple iPad mini 5 is a fair upgrade in performance and well deserving of being included in our list for the best tablet in 2020, although we wouldn’t call a groundbreaking tablet. It adds Apple Pencil support and as a whole, it works very, very well. If you liked the old mini and are looking for something new and fresh but with the same size, you will love this one from the moment you turn it on.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 with keyboard

  • Includes a USB-C port
  • Latest Intel Core processors
  • Bright and colorful screen display
  • An external keyboard and digital pen support
  • Lightweight and portable

  • Outdated design
  • Screen bezels are thick
  • Short battery life
  • Soft speakers
  • Lack of built-in LTE and removable storage device

There are many great things about the new Surface Pro 7 and its implementation of a 2-in-1 tablet/ laptop still remains the best there is in the market. Its new updated processor known as the Intel Ice Lake seriously boosts the tablet’s performance which along with a beautiful 12.3inch display screen ensures you will get plenty of performance and entertainment. Being backwards compatible with any Surface Type Cover is great as you can reuse things without having to upgrade everything. Providing support for the Surface Pen and the iconic kickstand, which you can adjust to almost 180 degrees, means you get as close experience to a laptop and at the same time brilliant functionality and performance.

The Surface Pro 7 is arguably the best Windows tablet money can buy today and a fair inclusion in our best tablet in 2020. It is just a shame that it is not that big a leap forward over the Surface Pro 6. However, you do get a lot of tablet here, plus the laptop-style implementation with the keyboard is really good. There are areas in which this tablet is brilliant, there are others like battery life that to some can be annoying. If you are happy to carry a charger around and don’t mind plugging in a wall at the first chance, this tablet could be it! H=ighly recommended though, it is, taking all into consideration, a fantastic tablet.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1

  • Android Pie operating system
  • Vibrant, sharp, and attractive screen display
  • Excellent battery life
  • Great price
  • Classic design

  • Average camera
  • Poor performance
  • Limited storage and graphics power
  • Not fast charging
  • Minor system lag

It has been two years since Samsung introduced the 10.1-inch entry-level Galaxy Tab A in the market. An important update made way to the newest version of Tab A 10.1 that works fine in terms of gaming, watching videos, or browsing the net. Why we think it has to be included in this list of the best tablet in 2020? Well, it is a great alternative for the iPad’s cheapest tablet and also way more attractive than a cheap plastic device like the Amazon Fire HD tablet.

Overall, the new Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is a well-built tablet that is thinner at 7.5mm and made of a mostly-metal body frame with a premium finish-feel and expensive look. There is also a physical Home button underneath the screen while the power button, volume control, and micro SD slot are located on the right side. And the good news is that it has a headphone jack on top of the tablet, something that is often missing these days with new tablets.

It is very rare to get a very stylish and sleek design in most middle-range tablets. The Galaxy Tab A 10.1 feels fresh and when you consider its price tag. It is not going to be groundbreaking but at least you will look good with it. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 2019 is a very good tablet offering great value for money. Considering its low price compared to other tablets in the market, you get a good screen, a solid build quality, and a powerful processor that provides surprisingly good performance. It is running Android 9 Pie and should get updates for at least two years. Sadly, the base model features 2GB of RAM so we would highly recommend getting the higher specs model. The tablet will be more than enough for most people, especially if you are already in the Android ecosystem.
